The default 27-second waiting room led the two alternatives on the outcomes reported in this historical test, but the surviving article does not include enough counts or uncertainty to call it a verified winner. Its strongest lesson is about test design: a bundled manual-entry redesign can answer whether to ship the whole package, but it cannot identify which component caused the difference.

The older article also calls the manual timer “looping” elsewhere without explaining that behavior. This revision does not choose between those descriptions. The exact timer and redirect implementation should be recovered before anyone reproduces the package.

What was measured

The account separates completed application forms, early application-form visits before the webinar’s automatic redirect, and enrollments reconciled with internal records. That layered outcome design is worth preserving. Calling early visitors “high-quality leads,” however, requires later qualification or purchase evidence; speed to the form alone does not prove quality.

The article says control edged out both variants on all three outcomes and that the margins were modest. It provides no rates, arm counts, allocation, dates or intervals. The honest Phase 1 conclusion is therefore descriptive: neither alternative produced a visible improvement in the reported record, and the manual-entry package cannot diagnose a single cause.

Package decision versus mechanism test

Changing several elements together is appropriate when the business question is “Should we ship this complete redesign?” If the package loses, it is not appropriate to conclude that manual entry, a longer countdown, testimonials or copy individually hurt conversion. Those require planned contrasts or later isolated tests.

A clean follow-up could retain the control layout, wording and 27-second delay while changing only automatic start versus a clearly labelled Join button. Separate tests could then examine countdown length and supporting content. Browser autoplay rules, failed redirects and device behavior should be recorded as technical outcomes rather than folded into visitor intent.

Relationship to the longer scheduling-delay test

This page studies the immediate entry experience after a webinar is ready. The join-timing case studies a wait of up to 15 minutes before a session becomes available. A brief preparation transition and a long scheduling delay are different interventions, so neither proves that people universally need—or dislike—waiting.

What remains to verify

Recover assigned users and conversions by arm for every outcome, the experiment duration, the enrollment-matching procedure, and the exact manual timer behavior. Publish only anonymized aggregates. Until those records are reconciled, retain this as a transparent negative-result and design retrospective rather than a conversion claim.
